Light and a Feather: Investigating Colour

Colour in animals can come from pigments, bioluminescence and structural colour. In this activity, students use different feathers to investigate pigments and structural colour. They make observations about the feathers, identify their different properties and sort the feathers into groups based on how the feathers’ colours are created.
